This is how it starts
Honestly, this begins with a close friend of mine telling me that I need to start posting my thoughts. Here's the start of it. I'm very forward and speak my mind plus I'm an open book. Of course what comes to mind with that is a quote from a really good Sergeant I used to work for, "Know your audience...". So I believe I come off as either a "mean" person or a "straight to the point" kind of guy when you get to know me. Take it how you will. I also know that everyone has an opinion, good or bad.
So this has been on my mind lately about other photographers or creatives. Lately a bunch of discouragement instead of encouragement.
JUST PUT YOUR ART OUT THERE!!!
I don't know how many times I've taken a photo and I just don't care much for the shot. "It's not good enough..." and then it just goes into my archives. All of a sudden, someone looks at my portfolio and comments on how great the photo is and they loved that ONE photo. YOU MADE SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE!
Remember, art is subjective. You may not know who you made it for but hopefully, your art finds its person. It will speak to someone. It may not even speak to YOU even though you took the shot and color graded the photo, but your photo will find its home. Cheesy?... I know but it's true.
I will ALWAYS encourage other creatives. If you ask me for advice, I will take the time to answer it as best I can for you. If I don't know the answer, I will use my resources to at least guide you in the correct direction.
Remember where you started. Myself... I just want to give back to other creatives paths that were not available to me when I first started. So if you're starting off learning as much as you can and you come to a point where someone is asking you for advice.... GIVE BACK!
